This first collection of hand-made handbags was inspired by my love of luxury materials. I chose Italian alligator, crocodile from the Nile, furs such as mink, especially dyed and natural lynx and fox as the basis for my designs. Feathers became a vital part of my creative process during a visit to Paris where the selection was rich and compelling.

As a tactile object as well as an outward symbol of personality, handbags are a woman’s posture to the world. Sometimes bold and sassy, other times demure and beguiling. I addressed each of these fundamentals as well as the way in which the materials interface.

Working for over a year-and-a-half with my craftsman was a most rewarding time... we spread the furs and skins all over the shop as we experimented. As each was completed, I delighted in showing the fruits of our labors to friends and major department store buyers.

The accolades were most encouraging.
